The 21st Century Community Learning Center at Washington Elementary strives to provide outstanding opportunities for our students. We do this best by providing exciting experiences to our students so they may make the most out of their afternoons.  Over the past two years, our 21st CCLC students have enjoyed varied extension related activities including lessons on health and fitness, STEM, board games and strategy, cooking, creative writing, art, and sign language. Additionally, our 21st CCLC program has also been fortunate to collaborate with Junction City Municipal Pool, YMCA of Junction City, Junction City Athletic Training Center and B & B Theaters. By joining forces with these amazing community providers, we have been able to extend student learning beyond the four walls of our school.

On this note, our 21st CCLC program is excited to announce our most recent collaborative venture with Home Depot of Manhattan. Home Depot provides opportunities in their store for children to build and learn through their Children’s Workshop program.  Shawn Reed, a representative of Home Depot, worked with our program director, Jeremy Fajen, to provide workshop kits, aprons, tools and personnel for our students to experience a Home Depot Children’s Workshop at Washington Elementary. The event was on April 26th, the 21st Century program’s final day of the school year.  Our students, parents and community members greatly enjoyed this experience.
